VISUME Script: Syed Nawaz Mehdi

 

Hello, my name is Syed Nawaz Mehdi. I am 25 yrs. old and I am from Sheikhpura, Bihar. I did my schooling from Aurangabad and Graduation from NIT Patna in Mechanical Engineering.

I worked for 12 months in Alstom as a GET in Methods Department. I was posted in Madhepura (BR) where we have an E-loco assembly plant.

My first project was on Method Time Study. In this project, I had to video record the installations at five different working stations in an assembly line. 

The purpose of this project was to segregate Value-Added and Non-Value-Added activities and further eliminate the waste present in the system so as to achieve lean manufacturing. 

I had made the master database of 170 installations and corresponding to each installation there were action plans to achieve the prescribed efficiency. It took me seven months to complete this project.

Looking at my hard work and dedication, I was given the responsibility to implement the action plan using innovative ideas and kaizens.  

We were finally able to reduce the cycle time by 2%. This project helped me developed team-building skills and techno-managerial skills. 

Alstom was a greenfield project and therefore I had an opportunity to experience the development of the industry from scratch.

Apart from my study and work, I have extensively participated in start-up activities during my college days. 

We had found a school management company and were able to sell our product in nine schools. I have represented NIT Patna in Bihar Startup Conclave 2016. 

I have several achievements in extra-curricular activities like; first prize in poem writing and short story writing, gold medal in Volleyball tournament and bronze medal in Badminton and Cricket. I am also a trained Badminton Player.
